Auckland City Tours
If you don't have a lot of spare time to explore our largest city, then this tour is a perfect opportunity to get your bearings and see some of our most popular city highlights. If you are a group of 4 or more, we can take you on your own personalised orientation tour, especially with your favourite things in mind.
city waterfront, bastion point & mission bay
We start our drive around the popular waterfront boulevard towards Mission Bay - home to a selection of cafes, bars and restaurants and a popular weekend recreational strip for locals. Along the way we visit Bastion Point, the site of a pivotal and successful Maori land occupation and protest in 1977 which lasted for 506 days.
Auckland domain & war memorial museum
Just on the edge of the city we drive through the extensive park like grounds of the Auckland Domain, also home to the prestigious Auckland War Memorial Museum designed in Neo Classical style architecture reminiscent of a Greco-Roman temple. As well as the exceptional local and international collections and displays, the museum features an excellent cultural performance up to 4 times daily. The museum visit is not included in this tour, however we are happy to drop-off at the museum at the conclusion of the tour - just ask!
The Victorian style glass houses known as the Wintergardens, also located in the heart of the Auckland Domain, opened in 1913 and to this day are a spectacular display of ever-changing colour and tropical plants.
one tree hill & cornwall park
Our next destination is Maungakiekie (commonly known as One Tree Hill) historically the Pa site of Te Wai O Hua tribe. This volcanic cone is steeped in Maori history and is situated in the middle of Cornwall Park, one of our city's most popular recreational parks which is also a sheep farm in which you are likely to see free-ranging sheep most of the year, and the cutest little lambs during the Spring. Take an optional 30 minute return walk to view the sprawling city of Auckland from atop this iconic volcanic cone.
We return to your pick up location in the city, however if you would prefer to depart the tour elsewhere in the city we are happy to do our best to accommodate.
