South of the Bombays
Join us for a day trip into the Waikato back blocks on our classic kiwi country road trip to explore the unique geology of the South West coast landscapes. We visit amazing limestone glow worm caves while heading to Raglan, a beautiful harbourside town and renowned surfie hangout. Raglan offers a variety of marine adventures as well as an irresistable selection of cafes and eclectic shopping opportunities.
Our trip South departs the motorway in the rural southern suburbs as we head West stopping along the way beside the Waikato river for a classic kiwi road trip-style morning tea prepared by our friendly crew.
Our back road adventure begins here as we journey through the unique geology of the South West coast landscapes. We visit the picturesque Nikau Caves where we can take part in a guided tour to explore the natural beauty of the underground limestone glow worm caves, or relax and enjoy the lovely gardens and beautiful natural surrounds with an excellent locally ground coffee or a glass of wine.
Our tour continues to the stunning harbour side town of Raglan, internationally famous in surfie circles for the exceptional nearby West coast waves. We have time to experience some of the best that Raglan has to offer which may include kayaking, paddle boarding or a swim in the Raglan harbour. We do not have time on this day trip for Raglan’s iconic surfing experience, however inquire about a personalised road trip if riding the waves is what you like best.
For those more interested in the gastronomic delights, there is an irresistible selection of cafes to enjoy, and you may also like to peruse the eclectic selection of local shops.
