North of the Bridge
Just north of the Harbour bridge lies a region packed with local treasures and kiwi adventures. Join us for an unforgettable day of food, wine, arts, iconic pubs and underwater experiences.
We head North crossing the Auckland harbour bridge to explore the rural delights within a few hours of Auckland city. Along the way we view an 800 year old Kauri tree, visit the country town of Warkworth and have the opportunity to visit ‘The Honey Centre’ with bee displays and an impressive array of honey products available to purchase.
Just in time for lunch we arrive at Matakana Village; home to an irresistible selection of eclectic shops, popular cafes, local vineyards, and the famous Morris & James pottery shop and cafe. For those lucky enough to visit on a Saturday, the bustling Matakana Farmers markets offer an irresistible selection of local produce and artisan foods.
Weather and schedule allowing; from here we high tail it to Goat Island marine reserve which offers aquatic experiences for all adventure levels ranging from a glass bottom boat cruise to snorkelling and scuba diving or kayaking. In the event that Goat Island weather is a little rugged, we will instead explore the other stunning beaches, Matakana vineyards and art spots which are numerous in this area. Our scenic afternoon return journey to Auckland City will be broken up with opportunities for tasting some excellent local wines or experience the rugged charm of the historic Puhoi pub. Alternatively the tasty gourmet delights of the renowned Puhoi Cheese Factory café are another opportunity not to be missed.
